Coaching Process Research Project Overview
Welcome
This project has been funded by a grant from the Institute of Coaching. Tatiana Bachkirova and I are co-principal investigators, assisted by Adrian Myers, research student at Oxford Brookes. The goal of this project is to develop an instrument that can be used to describe what happens during a coaching session.
Using this instrument, once it is finalized, future researchers should be able to investigate differences between:
- Various schools of style of coaching
- Beginning and advanced coaches
- Coaching and neighboring fields
- What coaches think they do and what coaches actually do during sessions
- More effective and less effective coaching
We believe that this instrument could also be useful in coach training and education. In addition, focus group participants may also find that the day's discussions stimulates their curiosity about what happens in their own coaching sessions and how those sessions might be described using this tool.
We are now in the final phase of our research. For more information on how you can participate in this phase, please click on this link
